Regarding that quote:
I take great care to never introduce myself with the words "I am <name>", for precisely this reason. I am not my name. Though, I wouldn't go so far as to change it without need (well, unless I get a really cool chance, like I was on a date with a guy whose last name was only one letter different from mine (which people often misspell) and I thought that getting the chance to hyphenate that and mess with people would be worth the costs and effort of a wedding... however with both of us suffering depression and living slightly too far apart to meet casually, I haven't really seen him in over a year and I don't even know him well enough to tell if we're really compatible)
